SMS-227
Automatic Fire Suppression Cylinder System
Description
The SMS-227/5112 system was researched and developed by S-TEC VINA specifically for electrical rooms, electrical service tunnels and small areas where water, powder or foam systems are unsuitable – and for any area requiring automatic fire suppression, particularly clean agent systems. The SMS-227/5112 uses one of two extinguishing agents: HFC-227ea (FM-200) or FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230). The agent is stored in the cylinder as a liquefied gas, pressurized with nitrogen to 25 bar. It is a clean, colorless and odorless agent, safe for people at the design concentration, non-conductive and residue-free after discharge. HFC-227ea (FM-200) / FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230) disperses naturally after discharge and causes no damage to electrical or electronic equipment.
Working principle
When the temperature in the protected area reaches 68°C, the glass bulb heat detector bursts automatically (bulbs with different temperature ratings are available to suit each project), triggering discharge of HFC-227ea or FK-5-1-12. Within 10 seconds the agent is discharged and spreads evenly through the space. On contact with areas above 101°C, the agent absorbs heat and locally reduces oxygen concentration while interrupting the combustion chain reaction, extinguishing the fire quickly and completely without damaging equipment.
What sets the SMS automatic fire suppression cylinder apart
Fast, highly effective fire suppression
Discharge time within 10 seconds, extinguishing the fire before it spreads and providing maximum protection for assets and equipment.
Safe for equipment and people
HFC-227ea / FK-5-1-12 is non-conductive, non-corrosive, residue-free and safe at the design concentration, suitable for occupied areas.
Optimized cost and operation
Optimizes initial investment and total cost of ownership; cylinders can be refilled multiple times after discharge, significantly reducing operating and maintenance costs.

Ideal solution for small spaces
Designed for electrical rooms, cable tunnels, control centers and server rooms – where water, foam or powder cannot be used. Saves space and investment cost.
No damage, no residue after discharge
After discharge the agent disperses completely, causing no damage to electronic equipment and requiring no post-fire cleanup, so operations can resume quickly.
Environmentally friendly
Zero ODP and low GWP, with no ozone depletion – compliant with international environmental standards.
Applications
